What to expect

When booking an appointment at Orion Hand Therapy

  • Please contact us via phone, email or the contact form on our website to make an appointment. We will then collect information surrounding your injury/condition and an appointment in an appropriate timeframe will be recommended. If we are unable to provide you with an appointment in an appropriate timeframe, we will recommend an alternate service to ensure you receive timely management.

    After booking an appointment, you will be sent a link to complete a new patient form that will collect details about your injury and medical history. If you have any referrals, scan results or post-operative reports, we strongly recommend a scan or photo of these are sent to admin@orionhandtherapy.com.au

    Please note, post-operative patients will not be provided an appointment without an operation report to ensure clinically safe care can be provided.t goes here

  • Please attend your appointment at your allocated appointment time. Late arrival may result in a shortened appointment to avoid inconveniencing other clients.

    A history of your condition will be taken and and your goals from hand therapy will be established. Following this, a detailed clinical assessment will be completed in order to determine the nature of your injury/condition and a diagnosis will be determined.

    If further investigations are required, advice will be provided regarding which scans are necessary and how to go about obtaining these.

    A treatment plan will be developed based on the physical assessment findings +/- scan results and you will be advised if you injury requires a period of rest in a splint or brace or if your injury is safe to proceed with exercise and activity modification alone.

  • You will be provided with a management plan/summary of your consultation to help you stay on track with your rehabilitation.

    Whenever necessary, a letter will be written to communicate assessment findings and treatment recommendations to your GP or other practitioners involved in your care.

  • Please attend your appointment at your allocated appointment time. Late arrival may result in a shortened appointment to avoid inconveniencing other clients.

    This appointment will typically be shorter than your first appointment (unless you have a complex condition or require treatment for more than one hand/condition).

    At each review, your progress will be re-assessed based on the findings of your initial consultation. The effectiveness of your exercises will be determined and they may be changed or progressed depending on what is clinically appropriate.

    If you are not responding well to a line of therapy or treatment, either a new line of treatment may be commenced or you may be referred on for further investigations or specialist opinions to help enhance diagnostic clarity.
